The College of Engineering is a school at the University of Illinois at Chicago offering both undergraduate and graduate programs of study.

The College of Engineering predates the current campus, having been founded in 1946 at the Navy Pier campus[2].

The college is recognized for its academic excellence with undergraduate and graduate programs in six academic departments. The College has 114 faculty members: two are members of the National Academy of Engineering; 40 are Fellows of their professional societies; 20 are National Science Foundation CAREER or Presidential Young Investigator Award winners; and, more than 10 are editors of major research journals.

Research programs in the college have grown rapidly over the years and are conducted in 6 departments and 7 interdisciplinary centers. During 2005-2006, the total research expenditure for the College of Engineering was about $20 million[citation needed]. The college is also the top-ranked public engineering college in Chicago.

The research programs in the UIC College of Engineering have been growing rapidly over the years and are conducted in all academic departments and in specific interdisciplinary centers. Our college is actively involved in interdisciplinary research in the areas of bio-technology, nano-technology, information technology, and infrastructure and environmental technology. We are committed to performing and disseminating first-rate research that includes both fundamental engineering scholarship and applied technologies.
