The college was established in the year 1917, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The college is approved by the AICTE and the Government of Karnataka. The departments are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.

From its inception, the college has grown steadily and is imparting quality technical education.
