The University Malaysia Sabah School of Medicine was established in the year 2003. It aims to train medical professionals of the highest standard in an effort to meet the needs of Sabah, in particular, and Malaysia in general.
The mission of the medical school is to impart medical education of high quality with emphasis on universal values such as ethics, morality, care and concern as well as teamwork, initiated at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, which will UMS medical graduate to act prudently in providing appropriate leadership to promote the health of the communities, thus empowering them to look after themselves.
The Medical School at Universiti Malaysia Sabah, aspires to become the centre of excellence in learning and research in the field of Medicine both locally and internationally and strives to produce medical graduates of high caliber, possessing ethical and moral values as well as embracing a liberal, independent and global outlook, and portraying a readiness to offer professional service towards enhancing the quality of life anywhere.
