[edit] History

UCSI is poised, from the very onset of its inception since 1986 to provide the widest choice of education options in the country with the greatest spectrum of financial flexibility, ranging from certificates, diplomas, and full degree programmes leading to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

Being a multi-disciplined institution, UCSI offers programmes across disciplines such as Accounting, Marketing, Information Technology, Engineering, Pharmacy, Applied Sciences, Mass Communication, Psychology, Music, among many others in the list.

UCSI began as the Canadian Institute of Computer Studies, a computer-based training centre located in SS2, Petaling Jaya, after which it became known as Sedaya College, when it was accorded the College status in 1990. In 2002, it evolved into Sedaya International College, reflecting its increasing international focus. When it was accorded university college status in 2003, it has since become known as University College Sedaya International (UCSI).

UCSI's state-of-the-art campus worth RM80 million located at UCSI Heights in Cheras was completed in May 2004. The purpose-built campus - moulded and modelled after some of the world’s best institutions, offers a stimulating, exciting and conducive learning environment, preparing students to be competent and ever ready to take their rightful places in the employment market. Apart from that, the campus also provides various facilities for recreation and relaxation, meeting the students’ every need without ever needing to leave the campus.

UCSI has spared no quarter in ensuring that the design of the campus will be totally stimulating, with lush greenery, secure hostel facilities, disability access, recycling centres, al fresco dining areas, cobblestone walkways and wireless internet corners.

In his speech at the ground-breaking ceremony, the former Minister of Education Y.B. Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Musa Mohomad said, by setting up this new and comprehensive campus, UCSI will be able to upgrade both its capability as well as its capacity to provide world-class education in this country. "I believe that UCSI will emerge as one of the top private academic institutions in this region," he said.
