Norte do Paraná University or Universidade Norte do Paraná is a private university which was created by Federal Decree number 70592. Administrative infrastructure includes a rectory Londrina, Brazil, pro-rectories and university council. It has campi in the cities of Londrina, Arapongas and Bandeirantes and was credentialed to distance learning modality in july 2002 and currently possess 424 classrooms used for support in cities spread for all Brazil states.
In campi courses in the modality of presential education are offered. Unopar counts today with a Center for Connected Education - a vanguard system of long-distance learning in Brazil. Distant cities of the country can have access to the courses programs of education, updating and professional training given through the long-distance teaching system of virtual Unopar. Unopar is today a national center of reference in rhythmic gymnastics. The athletes from Unopar are members of the Brazilian Rhythmic Team, bi-champion in Pan America, gold medal in Winnipeg, Canadá, in 1999 and in Santo Domingo Pan American games in 2003.
Unopar also works with children from the community through its soccer school - an important program for children to stimulate aptitude and to find talents in the neighborhoods. The socialization of Down Syndrome patients is one more of the action of sport and citizenship at Unopar, helping children and adults to conquer a better life through the practice of Karate. Several teaching programs and maturity are part of the sports activities Unopar provides for the elderly. Another mark in the infrastructure of Unopar is the experimental farm where agriculture, ecology, cattle raising, biotechnology and genetic research make the farm of Unopar, a true scientific laboratory. Biotechnology integrates the experimental farm to the most revolutionary technique for the multiplication and genetic improvement of plants. In the biofactory, plants totally free from diseases are produced, by using the tissue culture technology for the self-sustainable development of agriculture. In the ecological reserve of the Unopar farm, a center for selection and evaluation keeps birds and wild animals in a joint work with the National Institute for Environment Protection - IBAMA, the Forestry Guard and the Paraná Environmental Institute. The Hotel - Milk Plant, Dairy Factory, Fishery Plant and the whole infrastructure for rural tourism make the Unopar Experimental farm a true laboratory amongst nature. Another great mark of Unopar infrastructure is the Veterinarian Hospital. Located on the Arapongas campus, it counts with one a surgery center and it is part of the Units for teaching, research and community services.
Tecnology, Comunication and Education
The libraries of Unopar are connected to the Internet and the National and International Library network. All the units have programs for on-line research, and multimedia rooms. The Center for Informatics counts with qualified professionals and most modern technology to meet the needs of all the undergraduate and graduate programs.
