The Universidad de Colima is one of the most prestigious places of higher learning in the Mexican state of Colima. The university has campuses in several areas of the states.
It was created September 16, 1940 by the President Lázaro Cárdenas under the name title of the Universidad Popular de Colima, intended to serve the educational needs of the Michoacán, Jalisco, and Colima.
