From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Universal Wrestling Association (UWA) was a Mexican Lucha Libre promotion based in Naucalpan from 1975 until 1995. The UWA name stems from the name of the fictional sactioning body for the promotion's titles and is used more in a historical context outside of Mexico. During its existence, and often still in Mexico, it was referred to as Lucha Libre Internaciónal (LLI). The company was founded by Ray Mendoza, Francisco Flores and Benjamín Mora after a management shake up in Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre. The company had working agreements with New Japan Pro Wrestling, the World Wrestling Federation and Japan Women's Pro-Wrestling (JWP; later split into JWP Project and Ladies' Legend Pro Wrestling).
