From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The United Trades and Labour Council of South Australia, also known as SA Unions, is a representative body of trade union organisations, known as a Labour council, in the State of South Australia. In 2005 it included 27 affiliated Trade Unions and Professional Associations, with the current Labour Council Secretary being Janet Giles.

The offices are located in the Adelaide Trades Hall at 11-16 South Terrace, Adelaide. The Trades and Labour Council has a history stretching back to at least 1884.

As well as implementing Australian Council of Trade Unions policy within South Australia, SA Unions aims to maximise the union movement's effect in political, social, economic and industrial issues; defend and extend the rights of working people and all disadvantaged members of the community; increase the support and relevance of unions; and provide leadership and co-ordination in issues of broad concern to unions and the community.
