United States presidential election in California, 1960

1960 presidential election in California was one of the closest statewide raced this year. Although California was the home state of Republican nominee, Vice President Richard Nixon, who represented the state in the U.S. House of Representatives (1947-1950) and United States Senate (1950-1953) and was his initial political base, his margin of victory over Democratic candidate, Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy, turned out to be extremely narrow - just 0.55%.
