United States Sports Academy

The United States Sports Academy is a specialized university located in Daphne, Alabama, that offers degree and non-degree programs in sports instruction and sports research.
Past Academy graduates include Iowa State University Head Basketball Coach Greg McDermott; Texas Tech Head Football Coach Mike Leach;[1] Dennis Lindsey of the Houston Rockets; Texas Christian Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jeff Mittie; University of Texas Associate Athletics Director Lynn Wheeler and Nashville Predators Director of Hockey Operations Michael Santos.
Beginning with the 2003-2004 academic year, the school began sponsoring the NACDA Director's Cup.
In 2007, the Academy awarded an honorary doctoral degree to Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, the president of East Timor.[2] Recipients in previous years include such personas as Howard Cosell, General Norman Schwarzkopf, Kofi Annan, Ted Turner, and George W. Bush.[3]
