The 2000 U.S. Senate election for the state of North Dakota was held November 7, 2000. The incumbent, Dem-NPL Senator Kent Conrad, sought and received re-election to his third term, defeating Republican candidate Duane Sand.
Only Conrad filed as a Dem-NPLer, and the endorsed Republican candidate was Duane Sand of Fargo, North Dakota. Sand would later run for the U.S. House of Representatives against Earl Pomeroy. Conrad and Sand won the primary elections for their respective parties. [1]
