The United States Senate election of 1972 in Massachusetts was held on November 7, 1972 with the incumbent Republican Senator Edward Brooke defeating his challengers.

• John J. Droney - Middlesex County District Attorney. Served from the late 1950s until he was defeated for re-election in 1982 by Scott Harshbarger.^[1]

• Edward Brooke - Incumbent Senator first elected in 1966. Served from January 3, 1967-January 3, 1979. Lost to Paul Tsongas in 1978. Was the first African-American elected to the Senate by popular vote.^[2]
