United States Deputy Secretary of Transportation

The Deputy Secretary of Transportation, in the United States government, advises and assists the Secretary of Transportation in the supervision and direction of the Department of Transporatation (DOT). The Deputy Secretary would succeed the Secretary in his absence, sickness, or unavailability.
The current Deputy Secretary is Vice Admiral Thomas J. Barrett, USCG (Ret.), who is also the current Administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration. [1]
