The United States Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM) is a major subordinate command of the Army Materiel Command, and is charged with "integrating, maturing and demonstrating emerging technologies to field the right equipment, in the shortest time, for our Soldiers."[5] It performs nearly all of the Army's basic and applied research and technology development and comprises these organizations:

- United States Army Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center
- United States Army Communications-Electronics Research Development and Engineering Center
- Edgewood Chemical and Biological Center
