The United Red Army (連合赤軍 Rengō Sekigun?) was a Japanese group established on July 15, 1971. The group had 29 members at first, but 14 members were killed, until February 1972.

In 1971, they attacked a gun shop in Gunma prefecture and robbed weapons.

They killed two members in 1971 and sank their bodies in Inba numa, Chiba prefecture.

In early 1972, they caused Mountain Base Incident, or Purge incident in Gunma prefecture. They had some camps in mountainous areas and trained members to the military purpose. In January and February 1972, 12 members were killed. Most of them were died by cold but some of them were intentionally injured with knives. United Red Army leaders didn't admit they murdered those people, but called their cause death by losing (themselves) (敗北死 Haiboku shi?). In mid of February 1972, some members freed. They feared their presence noticed by the police and decided to dissolve their "base" in mountainous areas and most members left the place.

In this fleeing, they made Asama-Sanso incident. Five members took over the building for nine days with a female hostage. They also killed two policemen and a civilian by shot.

Its leader Tsuneo Mori killed himself in a prison. Other leading members Hiroko Nagata and Hiroshi Sakagushi were sentenced by death but are still alive in prisons.

It was related with Japanese Red Army, but they were different groups.
