United Park is a multi-use stadium in Drogheda, Republic of Ireland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and has been the home stadium of League of Ireland side Drogheda United since 1976. The stadium used to hold 5,400 (400 seated and 5,000 standing).[1] The Safe Capacity is now set at 2000 by the Louth County Fire Officer.[2]
The nearest rail link is Drogheda railway station, while Dublin Airport is roughly 20 miles away.
The future of the stadium is uncertain: It occupies prime real estate in Drogheda and potential to develop the stadium is limited by surrounding residences. Proposals have been made to sell the site and build a 10,000 all seater new stadium on the outskirts of the town.[3] The likelehood of this would increase if Drogheda were members of the proposed All-Ireland Football League.[4] On the 9th of July 2008 planning permission was given to the Drogs by Meath County Council and work is expected to commence on the site soon.
