United Nations Security Council Resolution 1741

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1741, on the situation between Ethiopia and Eritrea, was adopted unanimously by the United Nations Security Council on 30 January 2007.

In the resolution, the Council extended for another six months (until 31 July 2007) the mandate of the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia and Eritrea (UNMEE), currently in place on the ground to monitor compliance with the terms of the ceasefire that ended the two nations' 2000 border war. It also ordered a reduction in the number of peacekeeping troops assigned to UNMEE, from 2,300 to 1,700, and called on the two states to work to finalise the settlement of the disputed border in accordance with the Algiers Agreement.
