United Nations Security Council Resolution 1679 (adopted unanimously on 16 May 2006) is a United Nations Security Council resolution which endorses the African Union Peace and Security Council’s decision to move ahead with the transition to a United Nations peacekeeping force in the Darfur region of Sudan as soon as possible.
