From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In UNSC Resolution 1284, the United Nations Security Council decided to establish, as a subsidiary body of the Council, the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) [1]. The resolution was largely drafted by British civil servant Carne Ross, and was adopted by the Council on 17 December 1999. The resolution passed 11-0-4 (Russia, France, China and Malaysia abstained). UNMOVIC replaced the United Nations Special Commission on Iraq.
