United Nations Security Council Resolution 1173

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1173 (1998) addressed the Angolan Civil War, condemning the UNITA rebels but also urging certain reforms on the government.
Provision 12b of the resolution concerns blood diamonds:
“ | All States shall take the necessary measures ... to prohibit the direct or indirect import from Angola to their territory of all diamonds that are not controlled through the Certificate of Origin regime of the GURN.[1] | ” |
