The United Kingdom held a national preselection to choose the song that would go to the Eurovision Song Contest 1979. It was held on March 8, 1979 and presented by Terry Wogan. Due to industrial action the contest was not broadcast. Instead, Terry Wogan played all twelve songs on his Radio 2 show the following day.
