United Cities and Local Governments

United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) is an umbrella organisation for municipal associations throughout the world. Founded in 2004 it is the successor to the merged International Union of Local Authorities (IULA) and the World Federation of United Cities (FCMU) [1].

Members vary, from national associations (such as the English Local Government Association), to regional associations (such as the Council of European Municipalities and Regions).

Its president for 2007/08 is Mayor Bertrand Delanoe (Paris) and its vice presidents are mayors Zhang Guangning (Guangzhou), Amos Masondo (Johannesburg), Paco Moncayo (Quito), Kadir Topbaş (Istanbul) and Clarence E. Anthony (South Bay).
