United Basketball Conference

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The United Basketball Conference (UBC) is a scheduling alliance of NCAA Division I basketball independents which began play in January 2007. Its members are University of Texas-Pan American, Utah Valley State College and New Jersey Institute of Technology.

The UBC allows these teams more consistent scheduling during January and February, when most teams are committed to their conference schedules. The possibility exists of the UBC becoming a formally recognized NCAA conference, but this is unlikely, as it would take 13 years for the conference to be automatically eligible for the NCAA tournament, and even that is not a certainty. The conference most likely will be a temporary home for these programs, as former members South Dakota State University, North Dakota State University and IPFW joined The Summit League on July 1, 2007.

Utah Valley State was the men's champion for the 2006-2007 season, with a 9-1 conference record and a 22-7 record overall.
