Union Station, still commonly known as Shannon Mall, is a shopping mall in Union City, southwest of Atlanta along Interstate 85. It is the only major shopping mall located on the growing southwest area of metro Atlanta.[1] The name was changed from Shannon Southpark Mall in 2007, after new ownership and renovations came in 2006. Shannon Mall thrived throughout the 1980s and early 1990s but visitors dropped off dramatically in the mid 1990s as crime rates in Union City soared. The new development brings promise to the area.
