The Union Players is a group of theatre activists which formed in 2004 with their play Friday Night at the Union, a satirical piece exposing the goings-on during the downfall of a fictional Student union inspired by the downfall of the Melbourne University Student Union.
The Union Players comprise a number of members from a range of backgrounds, including (but not limited to) student unions, trade unions, and the wider political field.
Founded by Emily Andersen, Tanya Mammone, Steven Denyer, Ashling Cardwell and others, its first show was a massive success, and was given much critical acclaim by Andrew Landeryou and other people with too much time on their hands.
The Union Players have since created three more productions; Choice Stories (2005), Satisfaction (2006) and The Agreement (2007)
The Union Players have performed in the Melbourne Fringe Festival in the last three successive years (2005, 2006 and 2007).
