Union Hall is a census-designated place (CDP) in Franklin County, Virginia, United States. The population was 957 at the 2000 census.

Union Hall is located at 37°1′35″N, 79°41′31″W (37.026474, -79.691856)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 18.0 square miles (46.7 km²), of which, 14.5 square miles (37.6 km²) of it is land and 3.5 square miles (9.1 km²) of it (19.59%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 957 people, 407 households, and 326 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 66.0 people per square mile (25.5/km²). There were 813 housing units at an average density of 56.1/sq mi (21.6/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 95.51% White, 3.76% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.31% from other races, and 0.10% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.84% of the population.

There were 407 households out of which 20.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.3% were married couples living together, 5.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.9% were non-families. 16.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.60.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 16.1% under the age of 18, 4.6% from 18 to 24, 21.1% from 25 to 44, 40.3% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 51 years. For every 100 females there were 102.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $57,500, and the median income for a family was $64,653. Males had a median income of $44,226 versus $26,797 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $31,670. None of the families and 4.0% of the population were living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 6.1% of those over 64.
