I don't think it is a good idea to merge the mentor-page with the University of Copenhagen page. The content is not similar enough, even though the mentor-page relates to an activity at the university. There are numerous such activities and groups at the university, and if they should all be described at the University of Copenhagen page, the page would be endless. It is better just to link or refer to the mentorpage.Adba 14:27, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

I've created links to subpages in a more formalised way, [KU:Topic], to differentiate with other universities, faculties and institutes. C64lives 14:19, 20 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Sounds like a good convention :). I suggest we use it in those cases where the names are generel, like "KU:Faculty of Natural Sciences", and not fx "DIKU". (though we may still create a shortcut at KU:DIKU)

The following have been turned into redirects to University of Copenhagen since they have no useful content. As and when content for each faculty arrives, the listing for that faculty on the University page should be pointed back to it, but I don't think it's a good idea to link to the redirects since clicking will just go around a circle and confuse the user. User:PZFUN wrote that the University of Copenhagen is a private school. But I was under the impression that it was funded by the government (at least I don't pay tuition fees), which contradics that, no? looking at Public school the term seems not to be well defined for international usage, but State school seems appropriate. Since 2004, Danish universities have had the status of being 'self-owning institutions', which means that they are not owned by the state, but that they bear certain responsibilities towards it. State school sounds misleading.

[edit] Infobox

I made an infobox for Danish universities (Template:Infobox Danish University). It is simply copied from the Swedish one, but adapted to the info I could find on the Copenhagen University website. I couldn't find any numbers on how to break up the student body into undergraduate and doctoral students, nor on how large a part of the staff is actually teaching staff. Look at the Swedish box at Uppsala University for comparison. If these things can be found, the template can be adjusted accordingly. "Athletics" is important at American universities and doesn't really need to be in the infobox for European universities any more than a lot of other student activities or societies. / up◦land 23:04, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)

As this list can no doubt grow much longer, I think you should consider just mentioning a handful of the most well-known names in a paragraph here, and branching the long list off to a separate List of University of Copenhagen people, but it really needs some structure and biographical annotation. Take a look at List of Uppsala University people (which I have made), for an example of one way to do this. up◦land 08:40, 5 December 2005 (UTC)

That is a very nicely made list for Uppsala University. Hopefully we will over time create a similar one for the University of Copenhagen. As of now the list is just structured alphabetically by surname. The list was there before and I made some additions of Nobel laureates and Danish Prime Ministers. The section about the seal / coat of arms could be improved by adding a bit about the former symbol used during the union with Norway. This seal showed symbols of both countries. Examples are depicted in both Herlev Church and Ganløse Church. Erling Svane's "I Skjoldet springe Løver" (p. 138), confirms the person depicted as King Christian III. The University of Copenhagen was founded
in 1479 as the first university in Denmark.

I have often seen it stated that the Studium Generale in Lund (at that time a Danish town), founded in 1425 and started in 1438 was the first university of Denmark (and Scandinavia). (The University of Lund has made requests to count their age from the founding of the Studio Generale, but that has been denied. Am I the only one who thinks the list is a bit too long. I understand having people like Niels Bohr and Grundtvig on the list, but Per Stig Møller and Thor Petersen are not notable enough in my opinion. I checked the numbers. Total number of students, 33.553, women 19.159 -- 57%. I guess that's significant enough to warrant a mention. I'll correct the numbers on the article as well. Superdix 22:21, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

I believe some of the Nobel laureates associated with the University of Copenhagen did not necessarily study at the University; they did, however, have positions and pursued their research there. I suggest we make a separate list for the Nobel laureates. Superdix 09:05, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

I've noticed that articles relating to most major universities (Virginia Tech, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Oxford, Harvard University, Lund University, etc.) use seals on their Wikipedia articles. The image currently set as the title image for the article is Image:University of Copenhagen Seal Not Cropped.jpg, which is the official logo of the university.^[1] However, I think it would be more appropriate to use its seal: Image:Logo ku.svg - Lasse Havelund ^{(p) (t)} 14:25, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

The seal of the Copenhagen University is never used alone: "Seglene må ikke benyttes for sig, men skal indgå som den øverste cirkel i bomærket." (the seals may not be used seperately, it must always be the top circle in the logo) http://www2.adm.ku.dk/designmanual/default.asp?id=10&niveau=3). As such, using the seal alone would be inappropriate. (full disclosure, in case it matters to anyone: I'm employed at the communications department at the University of Copenhagen). Ah, in that case, the logo should be substituted either by:

- An SVG version of the current logo, Image:University_of_Copenhagen_Seal_Not_Cropped.jpg should be uploaded without the white background, or

(edit conflict) A raster version in sufficiently low resolution would be the appropriate solution per WP:NFCC (read the part about resolution of the image). I notice that the university already provides logos in EPS format for download. Surely we can create an appropriate version from one of them and add a proper fair use rationale. No, but it serves little purpose since WP:NFCC does not allow us to render the SVG in a resolution that would take advantage of the image being a vector image rather than a raster image. It's going to be rendered by the MediaWiki software anyway and the purpose of using a SVG image will be defeated. EconomicsGuy (talk) 19:25, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

I wonder whether it would be a good idea to adress the Danish grading system? Alot of foreign collegeadvisors and professers look to this page for info on the university of danish applicants.
