[edit] University Mall on ther verge of closing too?

I've been hearing rumors from several locals whom I have talked to recently that University Mall may close altogether within the next few years. Is this by any chance true? I know the mall has been struggling over the past several years. But I would'nt think the mall would be making a hasty exit anytime soon. Wslupecki 01:58, 22 November 2006 (UTC).

No. The Tampa Tribune has reported that in the next year or two, many new stores will move in (including Starbucks Coffee, which bought out the Barnie's franchise), that the entire center court near Macy's will be redone, and a hotel will be built on the premises, like at International Plaza. Thank goodness to that. I don't think the University community would ever want to see it's local mall close up shop. It is unfortunate what happened to Tampa Bay Center. I used to visit that mall all the time and was shocked when the facility closed. I guess Tampa Bay Center was just not able to rack in any new business. 71.99.217.12 05:45, 1 January 2007 (UTC).

I actually also heard that USF was looking into the mall as a potential site to build an on-campus football stadium. Is there any truth behind this?

No, USF has signed a deal to keep the Bulls playing at Ray Jay for at least ten more years. Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 04:38, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Criticism

This article needs some form of criticism of the mall. As a University, FL resident, I can attest to its crappiness. Unfortunately, there may be no way to verify this info, so look out for articles on Tampa Bay Online about how much it sucks.

Can we put a little tablet on that?

If you bring sources from the Tribune or the Times. If not, then no. Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 04:37, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
