[edit] Changes by User:dereksimpson

I have reverted the changes by User:dereksimpson. Firstly the owner of this userid has broken Wikipedia policy by choosing the name of a famous person, which Derek Simpson (trade unionist) clearly is in the context of this article. Also the claims are presented in a POV and scurrilous manner.

It is not my intention to censor Wikipedia.

As I understand it, the events alluded to are as follows:

  • Expulsion of four SWP members from the NEC Gazette Caucus with one explanation citing their support for the Wembley dispute. They remain members of the National Gazette.
  • Expulsion/exclusion of several members from the North West Gazette Caucus over that committee's practice of Mandating. Some are SWP members, others are not. Most if not all remain members of the National Gazette. The North West situation has been criticised by members of London region and also by the owner of the amicus.cc website.
  • Changes to the national Editorial Board at the last Gazette AGM in February 2006. The Chair and Editor, both members of the "Amicus Three", were removed and shortly afterwards dismissed from the union.

As a Gazette member myself I am not happy with these events, which I feel have caused serious damage not only to the Gazette's credibility but also its ability to campaign for lay member democracy in Amicus and in the "New Union".

However, any mention of these issues needs to be done in an NPOV way, and not in a scurrilous manner. Rugxulo 22:25, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
