[edit] GA resolutions

GA resolutions are definitely nonbinding. Perhaps your article could include a discussion of the binding triad, though. Thc420 07:19, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright status of United Nations resolutions

Could anyone please clarify the copyright status of United Nations resolutions for use in Wikipedia or Wikisource? I hope to know it better before adding more UN resolution documents. Thanks.--Jusjih 06:04, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Don't worry about it, they're just like any other treaty, law, judicial decision or public document. (Nobody else does. Various ones are all over the net.) Such things are public domain and have no copyright. Add away. I was thinking of doing so myself. There's a lot of important ones which aren't there, nor are well treated anywhere on the web. Any particular format or method you are using? How about the votes?--John Z 20:42, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I added a new article for UN General Assembly Resolution 505 on 8 June 2005 (also in Chinese) and there has since no change to it. I would like to add UN resolutions to Wikisource, but I wonder if it is going to break up into subdomains of different language versions.--Jusjih 01:58, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I have a very bad news. s:en:Wikisource:Possible_copyright_violations#UN_Security_Council_Resolution_1154 now has a discussion on copyright status of United Nations resolutions after s:en:UN Security Council Resolution 1154 has been tagged copyvio.--Jusjih 10:21, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

Correction, a major discovery at s:Wikisource:Possible_copyright_violations#Draft_United_Nations_Guiding_principles_on_Human_Rights_and_Extreme_Poverty has found that paragraph 2 of ST/AI/189/Add.9/Rev.2 leaves United Nations resolutions in the public domain, so we may add them to Wikisource, but Wikipedia should be used to write about them instead of just copying their contents. Very sorry about the major turmoil at English Wikisource for months.--Jusjih 17:07, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey,

We're starting a small wiki dedicated to Foreign Policy and UN Research. We're pretty new at the whole wiki thing, but you seem to have made some solid foreign policy posts. We'd love your expertise if you've got the time to possibly answer some questions and contribute. Interested? Email Admin.MUNFO@gmail.com and check out http://www.munfo.com (very early in development ;)) Fj winit
