[edit] Name
Should the article title include "The" in it? The sources seem to suggest that this word is not an integral part of the name, as it is never capitalized except at the start of a sentence. I propose moving it to United Latter-day Church of Jesus Christ unless anyone has any proof otherwise that the name includes the "The". And even if it does, we usually omit the "The" in names. It's George Washington University, not "The George Washington University", even though the "The" is part of the name. Rich Uncle Skeleton (talk) 00:10, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- You're right. No objections here. --Sthatting 01:36, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Church v. church
Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (Latter Day Saints) the word "church" should not be capitalized when used on its own (i.e. "...the church teaches..."). -- 159.182.1.4
- Yes, that's right. Nice work on cleaning up the page. Rich Uncle Skeleton (talk) 22:25, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just as a note, the ULDC and ULC are two different organizations. ULDC is the church itself. ULC (Uniformed Latter-day Commission) is the legal hand of the church. In the cases that it has been changed from ULC to ULDC, it flows easier. Do keep in mind that the ULC is "Uniformed," not "Unified." Overall, good changes. --Sthatting 15:46, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Establishment
Just noticed that the article was added to the "Religious Organizations established in 2005." It changed the official name to what it is in 2005, but I don't know if that constitutes an "establishment." The group has been around (separate) since 1954. Any feedback? --Sthatting 19:38, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- Probably the date at which it was first formally organized would be better. Is there an event in 1954 that "organization" can be clearly traced to--a corporate registration or a schism or something? If so, I would use the 1954 date as opposed to the 2005 date. I added the category but was unaware that 2005 was just a renaming (sorry). Snocrates 04:44, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
- The split occurred following Charles Zitting's death. I got that information from the Presidential Succession to the ULDC from the Official Website, if you're interested. The last three are unique to the ULDC as well as the 4th. No problem with the edit. At the very least, the article is part of another category that it wouldn't have been if the original edit hadn't even taken place. Good job! :) --Sthatting 16:23, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] OTRS query
I am handling an OTRS query on the veracity of this article. A brief check shows all the sources to be blogs and geocities pages. These are not credible sources despite making the article look authoritatively cited. --Brian McNeil /talk 10:29, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
