Talk:Unison (file synchronizer)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Is there a standard way to list operating systems for a program that supports a bunch of them? I think having a list right at the beginning detracts from the article. Maybe once the article gets bigger, the list could be moved to a separate section. Parksy

That kind of key info belongs right at the beginning of articles -- many readers would want to be able to stop reading any further, if the software is not availble for the OSes of interest to them. 69.87.199.92 20:19, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

a lot of this page (especially 'several points where it differs') is true of most file synchronisers and should be moved to File_synchronization Plastic rat 13:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Have completely rewritten as previous version was copied verbatim from http://www.cis.upenn.edu/%7ebcpierce/unison/, and there is no permission or licence given on that site. Plastic rat 11:18, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Which is the latest version of Unison? The article currently lists 2.24.6, but I have found binaries for Windows "2.26.14 GUI, 2.27.10 GUI" and "unison-2.9.20-win-text.exe" cagliost 10:11, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

"and is still the best known"... should be changed, facts should be used, "...has following features" Ymajoros (talk) 00:17, 31 December 2007 (UTC)ymajoros

"is still the best known" is a fact. I don't understand the comment: "...has following features". Why have you added the POV tag to this page? Plastic rat (talk) 12:58, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

"Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." If you can verify the statements you made in that sentence (first widely used, introduced most standard features, best known) please do so. Otherwise I suggest you dampen the statements a little. For example "... is (still) a popular tool." Nneuman (talk) 11:10, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

I agree with ymajoros and nneuman. Popularity and feature comparison from some reliable source shall be quoted, otherwise it looks like hollow claims from the author/s or some cult follower. 117.102.46.231 (talk) 12:04, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Unison.gif

Image:Unison.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
