Talk:Union Beverage Company

[edit] Assert notability

American intelligence analysts accuse this corporation of funding al Qaeda.

Surely every corporation accused of funding terrorism is notable?

Surely that corporation is even more notable when the accusation is that the corporation funced fundamentalist, Islamic terrorism, when its corporate records show it is actually a corporate sponsor of the Shoah Foundation that memorializes the Jewish people who perished during the Nazi holocaust? -- Geo Swan 22:14, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

The preceding three paragraphs -- my response to a {{prod}} -- was deleted without explanation by an anonymous IP user, User:209.30.236.2. Another anonmymous IP user, User:69.26.218.2 deleted about half the main article.
FWIW, I tried to contact the Press Officer at the Illinois Uniion Beverage Company, to determine whether they were aware of homonyms -- other companies with the same name. The Press Officer was on vacation, and hasn't returned my call.
It is quite possible -- likely perhaps -- that there are multiple companies named Union Beverage Company. But it would be a violation of various wikipedia policies to include such speculation in article space.
If the excsions are related to my recent attempts to seek confirmation as to whether the Guantanamo captive was an employee of the Illinois based company:
  • Sorry, if the Guantanamo captive was an employee of your company I don't believe you will have any success suppressing coverage of that material -- as it complies with the key wikipedia policies of no original research, reliable sources, and, I believe, neutral point of view
  • If you are aware of another company, a non-US company, with the same name as yours -- there is no problem with having the article say so -- or splitting the article in two -- provided we can document the existence of this other company with verifiable, authoritative sources.
  • If your company has only ever operated in the USA, and you have no record of employing the Guantanamo captive, and no-one in Illinois can explain why the Department of Defense links your comply to terrorism, there should be a way for the article to reflect this mystery.
  • If you think this information slanders your company I think your only legal recourse would be to sue the DoD -- but then IANAL.
If one or both of those anonymous users has a reason for their excisions I urge them to engage in a civil dialogue here on the article's talk page.

[edit] unexplained excision

This article has had two unexplained excisions. The anti-vandal robot reverted one. I reverted the other.

I encourage anyone who has a concern to discuss it here.
