[edit] On Kosovo's context
Astrit, please don't remove verifiable facts without even explaining your reasons for doing so. Instead of edit-warring over it, let's talk about the issue here. - Best regards, Evv 05:31, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

- I fully protected the article. Use this time to discuss here or on his user page. If he does not reply, I will block him as a vandal and unprotect the article. -- ReyBrujo 02:13, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Kosovo doesn't deserve to be part of Serbia, that is why I kept deleting the word. It angers me still that people don't realise what the Serbs did to the Kosovan population, and being Kosovar myself I believe it isn't right to put Kosovo as part of Serbia although currently that is its legal status. I am really looking forward to seeing Kosovo become an independent state, however when I browse through any websites and see Kosovo mentioned as part of Serbia it brings my hopes and anticipation of Kosovo becoming independent down. Hopefully you can understand now for my continuous editing and consider in letting Kosovo mentioned on its own in the Unikkatil article. Best regards, Astrit. P.S. I never intend in vandalising any articles on this site as suggested by 'ReyBrujo', because it is something I wouldn't do. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Astrit (talk • contribs) 19:12, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
- I understand your position, and I'm hardly alone in believing that you won't have to wait much longer to see Kosovo gain some form of independence. However, current Wikipedia policies (especially WP:V & WP:NOR) constrain us editors to present facts by merely reflecting what reliable sources state, regardless of our personal views and preferences on the issue. Our reliable sources unanimously refer to Kosovo as a Serbian province (see Talk:Kosovo/Sources), leaving us editors no opition but to mirror this description.
- Consider the precedent that avoiding the mention of Serbia because "Kosovo doesn't deserve to be part of Serbia" would set: in the future, after Kosovo gains some form of independence, it would allow Serbs to keep describing it as a Serbian province on the grounds that "Kosovo doesn't deserve to be independent". Angry that people don't realise what the Kosovar Albanians did to the Serb population, and being Serbs themselves, they would believe that it isn't right to put Kosovo as an independent state although at the time that would be its legal status.
- In other words, the current Wikipedia policies (especially WP:V and WP:NOR) are what give this place some semblance of order and rationality, instad of degenerating in an all-out battle of opinions, views and feelings. That's why those policies are not negotiable. – In case you haven't read them yet, please do, for you will find them of much help in avoiding conflicts and thus simplify your editing in Wikipedia :-) Best regards, Evv 02:07, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

- If we agree on keeping the mention of Serbia in the article, then there's no reason to have it protected any longer: the protection was only meant to force us to discuss here instead of edit-warring for another week :-)
- Of course, whenever the status issue is resolved (which should be happening in the next few months), we as editors will be forced to reflect that new status by the very same Wikipedia policies that now require the mention of Serbia. – So, at the very moment our reliable sources start describing Kosovo as anything different from a Serbian province (currently under UN administration), that new description will be adopted in the "Kosovo" article first and then all across Wikipedia.
- The issue, as you can imagine, has been the source of many problems in the past, including a recent arbitration case (see /Kosovo & /Evidence).
- Well... if the problem has been solved, I will request ReyBrujo to remove the article's protection. Have we agreed to keep "Serbia" there for the time being ? :-) Best regards, Evv 00:56, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, OK :(. I haven't had time to reply sorry for the delay. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Astrit (talk • contribs) 16:48, 1 February 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry, there was no hurry. And put a happier face: Martti Ahtisaari is presenting his plans tomorrow :-) BBC: Kosovans await word on their fate.
- I'm requesting that protection be lifted. - Best regards, Evv 20:30, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks for lifting the protection. As you may find I have slightly rearranged some of the information in the article so that it makes a little bit more sense. The results of Ahtisaari's plan sound positive, and I can't wait for the final result. Astrit. P.S.- :D. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Astrit (talk • contribs) 20:00 - 20:18, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

- The opposite is true: the Albanian Wikipedia has the article under Viktor Palokaj, and take a look at this Google seach for "Viktor Palokaj". Ismet Peja is the folk musician. - Ev 01:08, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
