[edit] Category discussion

As this page is up for recategorization, I suggest that better organizing the categories into subcategories would be most useful. Having looked into the organizations through "G," the page is primarily composed of associations, consortiums and research collaboratives with a miscellany of other organizations. It would be useful for researchers to categorize and subcategorize the organizations accordingly. Just a brainstorming, as a new user I am not entirely knowledgeable of what options and editing tools might be useful to making the page more user friendly. --Kenneth M Burke 03:47, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

I have taken to categorizing the organizations as discussed. I am sure the list is fairly accurately categorized but may need some additional work. Maybe there is some way to set the list below the alphabetical? Any ideas or suggestions, do feel free to dialogue.
Is there some way to define what these categories mean? I would help with the effort, but, for example, I am not certain why certain associations are placed into the category of association when a review of their article seems to suggest that it is research consortium, etc. Can we create some standards to use with this process? Good point and something I've already begun to think about. I think there are some similarities between some of the consortiums and associations but also some differences between them. I was planning on making my way around to subcategorizing - leaving and improving upon the list while also using the tools for categories provided for on the page itself for a general guide and flexible "standard." Any suggestions, by all means do feel free to participate. I think notation of the rationale can also be articulated so that users understand how a standard has been developed.--Kenneth M Burke 19:02, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Pardon my fumbling, I do anticipate having this page recategorized in a reasonable manner. --Kenneth M Burke 17:07, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

Subcategorizing many of the organizations listed, the arrangment of the page accordingly allows a user to easily view what has been categorized under the fairly broad category of "University organizations." --Kenneth M Burke 19:18, 4 March 2007 (UTC)

The page was categorized accordingly because it seemed it would be more user friendly. Subcategorizing does not necessarily include links on the page and links on the page do not necessarily reflect subcategorizing. The top list provides for both. Certainly, if others do not believe this is useful, it can be deleted. --Kenneth M Burke 22:42, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
