[edit] Notability of Boomhauer ladina

A tag has been placed on Boomhauer ladina requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JohnCD (talk) 18:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edgar Allan Poe

Please stop adding cholera as a possible cause of death to the Edgar Allan Poe article. Though cholera is certainly a valid theory, the footnote at the end of the sentence does not support the statement. The page it references has a sentence chock full of several theories, but cholera isn't listed. Because all information on Wikipedia must be verifiable, anything you add should include a reference. By trying to squeeze information into a sentence that is already well-referenced, you are basically tricking the reader. If you want to re-add cholera, just add a new source (and try not to splice into already-referenced sentences). --Midnightdreary (talk) 14:05, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

I actually owe you an apology. I checked the original source that was already cited and it, in fact, does mention cholera on the list of possible causes of death. In my haste to protect the Poe page from its rampant vandalism, I may have been too hasty on this one. So, I'll swallow my pride and say it: I'm sorry. Thanks for your persistence, which inspired me to check in on it. --Midnightdreary (talk) 14:16, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Stick to your guns

A tag has been placed on Stick to your guns requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Ironholds (talk) 06:04, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
