[edit] References needed

Can anyone provide the references for the '87546 & 98462' and 'Barry' sections please? It all sounds very plausible, but I have had a quick look at the 'Reference Works', and cannot see them mentioned. If we cannot provide verifiable sources, the information will need to be removed.

[edit] Proposed Deletion

This article was created as part of a major push to rationalise the coverage of articles about The Railway Series and Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, about two years ago. It is one of a set of three articles covering the 'major', 'minor' and 'other' characters who appear in the books.

Many of the characters described on this page can be referenced to the accompanying works written by the Rev. Awdry, Christopher Awdry, or Brian Sibley. However, there has been a steady trickle of additional 'characters' added by various editors where the only 'reference' is the book illustration itself.

Since many of these character descriptions started as stubs on WP (they're now redirects) it seemed appropriate to cover the whole of the Railway Series universe within these articles and explain to readers the real railway background to the stories.

I will see what I can do to this article in the next week, such as removing the duplicated characters, but it will mean diverting my attention away from assisting LSWR N15 Class to Featured status, and Great Western Railway and Bristol Temple Meads to Good Article status. But, hey-ho, someone has to look out for the Railway Series articles as all the other WP:THOMAS contributors seem to have left WP now...

Incidentally, I would hope that the majority of the coverage of the Railway Series books is referenceable, and essentially clear of fan fiction. Where the coverage impinges on the TV Series, then it's a whole different ball game....
