[edit] Fair use rationale for Doctor (Doctor Who) and History of Doctor Who
This image, Unearthlychild.jpg, is being linked here; though the image is copyright © to the BBC, I (Josiah Rowe (talk • contribs) 00:49, 28 February 2007 (UTC)) feel that it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a low-resolution screenshot from the Doctor Who episode "An Unearthly Child";
- it is being used for identification and critical commentary on the episode, its role in the history of the programme, and the introduction of the character of the Doctor;
- no more free alternative exists or can exist;
- the use of the image in this article will in no way infringe on the BBC's copyright, or ability to market the programme or ancillary works.
[edit] Licensing
This image is a screenshot of a copyrighted television program or station ID. As such, the copyright for it is most likely owned by the company or corporation that produced it. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, might be copyright infringement. For more information, see Wikipedia:Non-free content. |
