[edit] License tagging for Image:Rzcenter.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Rzcenter.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:05, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Studiob.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Studiob.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Image:Berkeley-powell-moviola.jpg

Hello, you have tagged this image with {{PD-ineligible}}. However, it is clear that this tag is not proper. It could be used for say, simple chemical structural formulas, but not for photos! Please read Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. If no proper license will be added in seven days, the image will be re-tagged with {{no source}} and deleted. Please ask on my talk page if you have any questions. Renata 06:22, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. First, about the image above. All images are copyrighted by default by its creator. If I remeber correctly, in the U.S. the author holds the copyright for 70 years after his/her death. It does not matter completely when the image was made or published. So, the photo was taken some 50 years ago. Since there is no indication that either the school or the original author released it into the public domain, it still has at least 20 years for copyright to expire and the pic to be in public domain. So, I guess, the only option left is claim fair use. For that you need to describe the pic in as many details as possible. You need to show the source and that you really need this pic in Wikipedia. You need to write the rationale. A plus if you decrease the resolution, so the quality is not that great and reproduction is made harder.
Almost the same goes for the pic from Trojan Vision. Obviously it is copyrighted by the studios. There is no doubt here that you need to claim fair use here. Again, provide as many detail as possible and include the rationale.
Any more questions: leave a message on my talk! Renata 07:51, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Hubleyrt.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Hubleyrt.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Fair Use Images

Please do not inline fair use images into non-article namespaces. This is against policy with respect to the use of fair use images. Only GFDL and other free images may be used on your User Page. Rather than removing them myself and maybe leaving your User Page unfit to your liking, I'll let you remove the fair use/unfree images.

[edit] re: Deleting Trinity attendees?

Hey, was wondering if you went to Trinity ... if there was a reason for deleting Joseph Sahid from the notable attendees list ? UnderPressure 22:54, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

If you are referring to the Trinity School (New York City), according to the page history, it was 68.174.174.63 who removed the entry for Joseph F. Sahid. [1] The only thing I did was remove Template:New York City from that article because it was not linked from the navigation box template. [2] Zzyzx11 (Talk) 23:30, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Buck's Rock

You're obviously a more experienced editor than I; can you find out how to ban 70.107.9.98 / 70.107.41.59 from continuing to remove information fro the Buck's Rock page? Every day I see content massively deleted. UnderPressure 00:47, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

I have requested for you that the page be semi-protected which will prevent IP editors from editting the article while you attempt to expand it. To see this request, you can go to this page, where you can request protection for pages if you find it necessary. Ryūlóng 02:36, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Public Domain movie issues

Hey, thanks for keeping abreast of the PD discussions on The Brain that Wouldn't Die and Teenagers from Outer Space. I'm working on a TfOS project, and obviously misusing footage that is not really in the public domain could be a huge error. UnderPressure 04:16, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

My pleasure, although I'm afraid it'll be a few weeks before I make any meaningful progress on this, as I'm preoccupied over at Wikiquote at the moment. But as Ah-nold says, "I'll be back." ~ Jeff Q (talk) 09:03, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Kingharvest.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kingharvest.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:OneManCast.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:OneManCast.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:Essex40.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. [edit] Image:BucksRockGong.jpg

Hi. When you uploaded Image:BucksRockGong.jpg, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 08:00, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

just wondering, how did you get the photo. are you a bucks rocker? please respond on my talk page

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:BR-ernst.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:BR-ernst.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:13, 29 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nv8200p talk 21:13, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] 24 WikiProject

Hello there, I see you are on the 24 WikiProject. It's been quite dead for some time now, and me personally, I intend to revive it. I considered maybe even a 24 Portal, i see the project founder hasn't been on Wikipedia for nearly a year. What are your thoughts on the project? Are you still interested in it? And would you help revive it? Let me know, I would intend to help out a lot, maybe "take over" the founders position, well not take over, but possibly help lead the project? Was just a thought and I wanted your input. My talk page would be the best place. Cheers, Steve Crossin (talk) (anon talk) 19:46, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:BettyMorgan2.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Sdrtirs (talk) 07:52, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
