Undeclared (New Jersey)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Undeclared is a status for voters in New Jersey. Those voters who do not specify a party when they register to vote — Democrat, Republican, or one of the several other parties in New Jersey — are registered as Undeclared. Voters who have previously registered with one of the political parties may request to have their status changed back to Undeclared.

In primary voting, registered Democrats can vote only in the Democratic Party primary, and registered Republicans can vote only in the Republican Party primary; crossover voting is not permitted. Undeclared voters may vote in any available party primary, and will then have their registration changed to the party in which they participated in the primary ballot.
