Unang Hirit (First Strike) is a Philippine morning news and talk show aired every weekday mornings by GMA Network.

Unang Hirit was first aired on GMA in December 06, 1999, replacing Mornings @ GMA, Mornings' hosts Lyn Ching-Pascual, Suzi Entrata-Abrera, Ryan Agoncillo with new faces of Mickey Ferriols, Arnold Clavio, and Miriam Quiambao started the show as the original hosts pitting up against ABS-CBN's least powerful Alas Singko Y Medya. Unang Hirit bags the 1st Best Morning Show and Host Winners in the PMPC Star Awards for Television and the same category, the show also won in 2002, and also awarded by the Anak TV Seal Award in the year 2006.

In 2007, Unang Hirit celebrated their eight year, marking them as the longest-running morning show in the Philippines.

This year, "Unang Hirit" recently won as Best Morning Show in the UP Gandingan Awards 2008.

  • It is now considered the longest running morning program in the Philippines after their rival morning show, Ala Singko y Media then Magandang Umaga, Pilipinas of ABS-CBN was replaced with Umagang Kay Ganda.
  • Unang Hirit has a puppet called "Arn-Arn", named after Arnold Clavio, and one of the firsts in the Philippine morning TV show history.
  • Rhea Santos was a segment producer before landing the "host" position in Unang Hirit.
  • The show's second hour (6-7 am block) will be pre-empted starting October at GMA's regional stations in Cebu, Iloilo and Davao to give way to new morning shows produced by RGMA. GMA Iloilo's morning show called "Arangkada" will be premiering on October 8. GMA Cebu's morning show is also set to premiere with the title "Buena Mano!"
  • Both Arnold Clavio and Eagle Riggs are Honorary Members of UST's Teatro Tomasino.
  • The theme song of the same title is sung by Unang Hirit Barkada.
