Escalona: Un Canto a la Vida is a soundtrack album to the telenovela Escalona (released in 1991).
The album is a collection of vallenato style tracks by Rafael Escalona, performed by the show’s star, singer/composer Carlos Vives. Like the soap opera the album is based on, the soundtrack became a success.
It is the first collaboration of Vives and the band La Provincia. The popularity of the album meant a second volume of tracks was produced, followed by their first individual album Clásicos de la Provincia.
