[edit] License tagging for Image:Danbryk.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Danbryk.png. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 05:07, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Dan Bryk
In response to your message, they've tagged the article as requiring cleanup and reading like an advertisement. I believe that the trouble lies in the large, amorphous 'History' section, which needs to be split up into more easily parsable sections. Additionally, the text requires citations and to sound less like advertising copy as per Wikipedia's WP:NPOV guidelines. I'm still new to editing Wikipedia, but these were the most glaring issues that I discovered. I'll probably do some editing in a bit, as I am knowledgeable about Dan's music as well and might be able to make it look a little more acceptable to the Wikipedia powers-that-be.
As far as the notability guidelines are concerned, the guys pushing for the article's deletion were worried that UM was using Wikipedia as an advertising medium for an artist who was not notable enough for mention in Wikipedia. However, a quick Googling will reveal that there is indeed enough information independent from the artist (IE: things that are not advertising), such as the Pitchfork reviews, to warrant that Dan Bryk is indeed notable enough to remain in Wikipedia. Furthermore, evidence that he has toured both the US, Canada, and Japan should help to bolster that claim. Check out the WP:MUSIC page to see what I'm talking about here. Anyways, hope this helps! -TheSteve04 01:59, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
