Umeko Ando

Umeko Ando (安東ウメ子 Umeko Andō?) is an Ainu (Native Japanese) singer who died in July 2004. Episode 17 of Samurai Champloo, which features her song Pekambe Uk ({{{2}}}?)("Wheat Harvesting Song"), bears a message regarding her passing at the end of the credits, reading simply:
Umeko Ando
May her soul rest in peace.
