Umar Kayam

Umar Kayam (or Manusia Ulang Alik Umar Kayam) - Indonesian sociologist born on April 30, 1932 in Ngawi, East Java. He followed education in HIS Mangkunegoro Surakarta, where his father also taught. After that he continued the middle school in Mulo, then continued the language part in a high school in Yogyakarta. He graduated from the high school in 1951 and continued education in the Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta. In 1955 he continued his study in the USA in university in New York. After he got Master's degree of Education in this university, he has written a doctoral thesis titled "Aspect of Interdepartemental Coordination Problems in Indonesian Community Development".
