Umar Arteh Ghalib

Umar Arteh Ghalib or Omer Carte Qalib (Somali: Cumar Carte Qaalib, b. 1930) was a Somali politician. He is a member of the Isaaq clan and belonged to the United Somali Congress.[1][2]
From 1969 - 1977 he served as Foreign Minister[1] and on 24 January 1991 he was appointed by then President of Somalia Siad Barre and became the last Prime Minister of Somalia under his regime.[3]
After the ouster of Barre the next president, Ali Mahdi Muhammad reappointed Umar Arteh Ghalib as prime minister[2], a position he was to hold until May 1993.[3]
