An ultra lounge is a type of nightclub developed in the early 2000s. Ultra lounge-style nightclubs often have subtly changing neon and vivid-coloured lights, and seating groupings for people to socialize. The music is often more subdued white-room or ambient house type music instead of loud dance music or techno. Unlike most nightclubs, ultra lounges rarely have a specific dance floor, unless they are having a DJ event.
Ultra lounge-style clubs sometimes create privacy around the seating areas with room dividers, sheets or curtains. Some clubs have semi-private room with a large mattress on the floor for patrons to lounge on and socialize. These clubs offer a range of cocktails and drinks and food such as tapas-style finger food.
