Ultra Records is an American independent electronic dance music record label. Ultra was formed in New York City in 1995 by former Polygram and Virgin Records executive Patrick Moxey, who is still currently the owner. Ultra's current roster includes American artists Steve Smooth, Kaskade, George Acosta, Cedric Gervais, and international artists Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold, Above & Beyond, The Young Punx, Benny Benassi, Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, and others in North America. Ultra also represents the Ministry of Sound brand in North America and hit singles from around the world. Ultra has featured releases from many artists such as The Crystal Method, Timo Maas, Sasha & John Digweed, 4 Strings, Panjabi MC, Despina Vandi and Junkie XL.
On 24 July 2006, Ultra Records signed a pact to join the Alternative Distribution Alliance/Warner family and will start distributing the records in September 2006. Warner Media Group released a statement stating that Ultra Records would be partnering with Rhino Records for remix packages of Warner Media Group artists. [1] With this new deal they will be releasing CDs by Tiësto and Kaskade. For the 22nd Annual Winter Music Conference's IDMA, Ultra Records won the award for "Best American Dance Label" as revealed on April 12, 2007. Ultra is distributed by EMI Canada and Vital UK.
Ultra Records is affiliated with Ultra International Music Publishing representing songs with Akon, Ludacris, Sean Paul, Paul Wall, Trick Daddy, and writers Deep Dish, Cedric Gervais, Kaskade, and others.

Ultra Records is also known for their annual two day Ultra Music Festival. This festival is usually at the end of the annual Winter Music Conference held in Miami, Florida. This year's festival featured Paul Van Dyk, The Prodigy, Erick Morillo, Carl Cox, Danny Howells and Paul Oakenfold.

Ultra Records is expanding their presence in New York by hosting their second annual Ultra:NY which was hosted in Central Park on September 16, 2006. The main headliners were Danny Tenaglia, Timo Maas, Paul Oakenfold, The Chemical Brothers, and Mylo. Ultra:NY also featured Erick Morillo, David Waxman, Boris, Liquid Todd, and Kevens. Last year Ultra:NY debuted and featured the number one ranked DJ in the world by DJ Magazine, Paul Van Dyk.
