[edit] Capabilities
Ultra Hal Assistant is a chatterbot program that can be used for entertainment purposes or as a digital secretary. It uses a natural language interface with animated characters using speech synthesis. Users can type to it or speak by utilizing a SAPI compatible speech recognition engine.
As an entertainment program it is able to converse in English about any topic. It is designed to learn through human interaction. It stores all conversations in its database and uses them to come up with responses in the future. It uses a proprietary algorithm that utilizes the WordNet lexical dictionary to accomplish this.
As a digital secretary it is able to remember and remind users of appointments, remember and dial phone numbers, remember emails, remember addresses, calculate math problems written in natural language, run programs on command, open web pages, give definitions of words, and start internet searches.
