[edit] Nigritude Ultramarines

"The Ultramarines typically paint their power armor and vehicles a medium blue"

Aren't there Nigritude Ultramarines that paint their power armor and vehicles black? Or were these a later addition? --Damian Yerrick 03:25, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)

  • Most likely a fan modification. Saberwyn 03:13, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] First Space Marine chapter

Btw the Ultramarines *were* the ONLY spacemarines untill spacehulk came around IIRC —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.131.175.27 (talk • contribs) .

Definitely not true. Not only does the cover of Rogue Trader feature Crimson Fists, but inside that book there are examples of numerous chapters. Bombot 12:37, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
In WD around issue 110 they listed Ultramarines as a successor chapter. Just FYI. --141.129.1.98 (talk) 17:59, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
Codex: Space Marines specifically lists Ultramarines as the 13th Legion. This makes them a First Founding chapter rather than a successor chapter. Story wise the "first" Space Marine Legion was the Dark Angels so it would follow that they would be considered the first chapter. Firewall2302 (talk) 17:50, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notable characters

I have proposed a guideline for character notablity within Warhammer 40,000 articles which I believe may effect the listings on this page. Please see the proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Warhammer 40,000/Notability and comment. Cheers --Pak21 10:39, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

We have now agreed some guidelines, and I believe that all the characters mentioned here except Marneus Calgar, Tigurius and Cassius do not meet any of the criteria specified. If you believe any of them do, please give the reasons here. (If you wish to discuss changes to the guidelines, please do this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Warhammer 40,000/Notability). Cheers --Pak21 10:30, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
sorry to be such a pain but does Uriel Ventris as the main character in the Ultramine series not deserve to be mentioned? I must admit that most of the rest of the list seems unneeded, Ultramine novels should be taken into account though Lowris 19:35, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
As the main character of several BL books, I'd be inclined to keep Uriel Ventris. The rest can go. -- Saberwyn 19:54, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Based on"

This is starting to get silly. Unless anyone can actually cite some sources, I'll remove all of the mentions except Robert Guiliman. Cheers --Pak21 07:59, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Given the lack of objections, I have now done this. Cheers --Pak21 10:33, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

On a similar subject, I have an issue with this statement:

“The name Roboute Guilliman might had been based on Robert Guiliman, who wrote out and formalised the rules for monks and monasteries.”

I really think these articles on chapters should be bold enough to state that x primarch’s name is based on y real life person’s name with out using words such as “might” or “is said to have been”, the latter being what Lion El’Jonson’s page says about has name being based on Lionel Johnson. I know these words are used because there’s no GW source specifically linking the names but when the link is so obvious it just looks silly if uncertainty is introduced into the proceedings, especially when additional information is given on why the real person’s name is used (as it is here). Bombot 12:23, 14 March 2006 (UTC)

Well I went and changed it but then I did a search for Robert Guiliman on Google and the only page it came up with was this one. Is this definitely how the name was spelt? Bombot 08:31, 26 April 2006 (UTC)
I can find no record of a Robert Guiliman, I am going to remove untill a time that someone can provide some links as to who this chap was. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 205.145.18.20 (talkcontribs) .
The only Robert I can find who had anything to do with the early organization of monastic orders is Robert of Molesme, who was one of the founders of the Cistercian Order. The Wikipedia article doesn't list his family name, only that he was a younger son of a noble family.--213.114.137.26 16:43, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
I've seen (here http://www.dakkadakka.com/Forums/tabid/56/forumid/31/postid/115787/view/topic/Default.aspx) that his name might be based on Guillaume de Machaut, who's Wiki page describes him as having done "much to perfect and codify these fixed forms [of poetry]". Worth adding? Bombot 13:00, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
No. That kind of fan speculation is almost the definition of original research --Pak21 13:15, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Codex Divergence

COncerning the ultramarines successor chapters, ( praetors of ultramar for example) can it be confirmed that they answer ultimately to the chapter master of the ultramarines? I had a chat with a GW staff member who intimated that, but I cant find any information backing it up.

No, it cannot be confirmed. Each Space Marine Chapter is a sovereign entity, answerable only to the Emperor. --Pariah Press 00:17, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Though the DA Chapter MAster does seem to have some power over the DA Successor Chapters, and those that followed, but from all the fluff I've read, that's the exception, not the rule. Darkson - BANG! 05:27, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Warhammer40kUltramarine.JPG

Image:Warhammer40kUltramarine.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Ultramarines Chant

Should we include Chaos Gate's Ultramarine chant in the Battle Cry section? You know, the one that goes "Agitatis Ultramarini, Dominatis Ultramarini" or something of the sort? - Frostmourne 16 23:33, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Erm soz someone else here won't let me add new comment It says that the entire 1st company died, does tht include the Captain? or was he with Marneus

[edit] Captain

[edit] succesors

does the original ultramarines chapter count as one of the 23 succesors —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arthurcourt (talkcontribs) 20:35, 27 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Clarify?

Who is this Inquisitor Kryptmann and why has he stolen the role of Tigurius? Originally it states in the 3rd edition Space Marines codex that Tigurius has a vision of the Emperor pointing his sword at Macragge saying that's where the battle will be. That was the main thing for the first Tyranid war. - NemFX (talk) 07:25, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Read the Tyranid Codex, he did lots of stuff to stop the Tyranids and thanks to him all the nids are killing orks instead of Ultramarines —Preceding unsigned comment added by Arthurcourt (talkcontribs) 13:40, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, but they changed his role from being the one to warn of the Tyranid attack, to someone who just diverts a different attack elsewhere? Kryptmann kinda stole his part from the overall story.. Why? - NemFX (talk) 06:20, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
